Biography of DIG
Mallick Faqrul Islam,BPM,PPM Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bangladesh Police hailed from Bagerhat District. He started his career in Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police through Public Service Commission in 1991 and topped 3rd the list of merit in 12th special BCS..
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in law and completed Masters in Business Administration (MBA) & PhD on “Crime Prevention & Social Changes: Bangladesh perspective.”
He served in various capacities of Bangladesh Police and achieved reputation & professionalism and has added glory and dignity. He worked in many important capacities such as Superintendent of Police at Bhola, Kishoreganj, Sylhet and Feni District, Deputy Police Commissioner Dhaka Metropolitan Police, AIG (Training) PHQ, Commanding officer of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-3), Deputy Inspector General of Special Branch (SB) and Head of Railway Police, Highway Police & FPU Commandant UN Peacekeeping Mission in East Timur (UNMIT) and was awarded with UN medal.
His gallantry and bravery in Crime Control has shown great admiration with the award of Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) & President’s Police Medal (PPM), the highest award of Bangladesh Police. He also achieved IGP’s Exemplary Good Service Badge twice in recognition of his highest professional standard.
He attended different training courses both in home & abroad (USA, Malaysia, Nepal, South Africa). His hobbies are traveling & reading. He is married and blessed with a son and a daughter.
